How is a multi-year SaaS deal with a price ramp recognised?

Multi-year SaaS deals often ramp: the customer pays less in year 1 and more later for the same subscription. The invoices rise; revenue often does not follow them. Here is a $60,000 / $90,000 / $120,000 ramp worked through with the Soluqube engine. 36 months from November 2026, $270,000 in total, the same stand-ready platform access every year. Under ASC 606-10-25-14(b) and 25-15 that is a series of distinct periods accounted for as one performance obligation, so the relative SSP allocation (ASC

Two systems hit the same usage limit. Only one of them was spending it.

On 2026-08-30 and 2026-08-31, two separate automated pipelines in this project stopped on the same day, for the same reason: a weekly usage limit on the account they both run under. The obvious next move was to make the pipelines lighter. Measuring first changed the answer, because the limit turned out to be a shared resource, and the thing that had stopped was not the thing that had been spending it. The project runs its release automation on two routes: a main route and a secondary one kept as

Your 8D was rejected: how to revise and resubmit without starting a second argument

Get the free 8D/D4 checklist: https://8d-gate.vercel.app/free-8d-checklist?utm_source=devto&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=rejected-8d-resubmit_checklist The email arrives with a short line: "8D rejected, please revise." Sometimes there is a list of comments. Sometimes there is one sentence. Either way, the clock on the complaint is still running, and the instinct is to fix the obvious wording and send it back the same day. That instinct is usually what produces the second rejection. How a Wired Reversing Camera Works: Power, Trigger Wire and Video Signal

Aftermarket reversing cameras look like a simple gadget: a camera, a screen and a cable. Under the hood there's a neat little system of power, switching and analogue video, and understanding it makes installation and troubleshooting much easier. Here's a beginner-friendly walkthrough. A typical wired kit has: A camera mounted at the rear, usually above the number plate or on the roofline. A monitor in the cab, often one that clips over the rear-view mirror. A multi-core cable linking the two, ca

The Index Is There and the Plan Still Reads 1,000 Pages

B-tree internals, column order and planner statistics in Postgres 19, checked against MongoDB's ESR rule. Most "add an index" advice stops at CREATE INDEX. In my work as a backend/system design engineer running Postgres and MongoDB behind Node/NestJS APIs at scale, the slow queries that reach me usually already have an index. The plan even says Index Scan. It is still slow. This article is the walkthrough I wish I'd had: what a B-tree page actually looks like, why column order is a contract, wha

SQL Injection: When User Input Becomes a Database Command

Imagine building a login system that checks a user's email and password against a database. Everything works perfectly until someone enters something unexpected into the login form. Suddenly, your application is executing SQL commands you never intended. That's the danger of SQL Injection (SQLi), one of the oldest and most dangerous vulnerabilities in web application security. SQL Injection is a security vulnerability that occurs when an application allows untrusted input to change the structure

How Thread groups Firefox tabs with two local AI models

A GitHub issue and a tutorial can concern the same task without sharing a domain. Semantic embeddings give a tab organizer a way to look for that connection. Thread uses two models for different jobs: MiniLM turns tab titles and minimized addresses into embeddings. A deterministic planner uses those similarities to find compatible groups across sites. Mozilla's smart-tab-topic suggests a name from representative titles in each new group. The output becomes Firefox's native tab groups. Existing g

The node_modules Black Hole: Recursively Finding and Cleaning Projects

Somewhere on your Mac there are dozens of node_modules folders, and you haven't thought about most of them in months. Each one is 200 MB–2 GB of installed packages — including the ones for projects you deleted, archived, or rage-quit two laptops ago. This is the single biggest "quiet" disk eater for anyone who's ever run npm install. Let's find them all, safely delete the dead ones, and stop them from re-growing. find . -name "node_modules" -type d -prune 2>/dev/null | head -50 That lists the fo

How to Find the Largest Files on Your Mac (Fast, Free Methods)

"Where did my free space go?" almost always resolves to a handful of giant files: an old disk image, a 4K video, a Photos library, a .pkg you downloaded twice. Finding the top 20 gives you 80% of the win. Here are the fastest methods on macOS - one app-legit, one terminal, one visual - with exactly how much they cost in effort. Open Finder, hit ⌘F (Find), set search location to This Mac. Add filters: File size → "is greater than" → type 1 GB. Sorted by size, top results first. Whatever the giant

Building a Calorie Counter for Dogs: The Vet Math, the Code, and the Food Data

Why I built this I run whatdogscaneat.com, a site that answers one deceptively simple question: what human foods can dogs actually eat? Every guide on the site ends with the same follow-up from readers — “Okay, it’s safe. But how much can I give?” That question is a software problem. “Safe” is a yes/no lookup. “How much” is a calculation, and it depends on the dog’s weight, age, neuter status, and activity level. So I built a calorie counter for dogs: enter the dog, pick the food, get a portion

How to stop an AI agent looping on your API

An agent that hits an error it does not understand often retries the same call, again and again, for as long as it runs. Each call is small, so nothing alarms, but your database, your API bill and your logs fill up. Here is how to stop it. Agents built with Claude Code, Cursor or an agent framework recover from failures by trying again. When the failure is permanent (a schema change, a missing record, a 400 they misread), trying again never works, and the agent can keep going until it runs out o

Updating to macOS 27 Golden Gate? Check Your "System Data" First

The Mac subreddits are full of the same post this week. Someone updates to macOS 27 Golden Gate, opens Storage settings, and finds "System Data" at 150 GB. Deleting documents doesn't move the bar. Sometimes it grows back after they've deleted 100 GB. I haven't updated yet. I'm still on macOS 26 Tahoe, and my System Data was already 147 GB of a 245 GB disk. So before installing Golden Gate, I split that grey bar into its parts. Storage settings only names a few things: Apps, Documents, Photos, Ma

AI-Powered Newsfeed: practical use and context

The news collection helps readers browse published items and follow their context. It is a discovery surface, not a guarantee that every headline is current, independently verified or relevant to a particular decision.

↑ Back to the application
AI-Powered Newsfeed publication artwork; not a screenshot of results
Application artwork reused from its publication image family. The interactive interface is above.

Read beyond the headline

Browse the available items and open the full article that relates to your question. Check the publication date, source and surrounding explanation before treating a headline as evidence. A collection can contain items from different periods. The order in a feed is a presentation choice, not proof of importance or a representative survey of everything happening in a subject area.

When following an external source, read its original context and distinguish reported facts, analysis and opinion. An excerpt can omit qualifications that matter. If an item concerns a changing situation, seek the latest primary source rather than relying only on the collection’s summary.

Use a news item to frame a research question

Choose an energy-related story, note its date and claim, then compare the relevant observation period in Petroleum Observatory. Keep the article’s explanation separate from the official data series. A simultaneous change in two charts does not verify a causal statement in a headline. Record what additional evidence would be needed before making that claim.

For a marketing briefing, summarize why an item matters to the audience and link to the original reading destination. Avoid copying an entire article or presenting another publisher’s reporting as your own. Relevant context is more useful than a large undifferentiated list of links.

Availability and editorial judgment

Source pages may move, require subscriptions or become unavailable. An available headline does not promise access to the complete external article. Dates and excerpts can be supplied by upstream feeds, so verify them where a decision depends on recency. The collection does not provide investment, medical or legal advice and does not independently certify all source claims.
